The Hard Quartet es una nueva
banda compuesta por las luminarias del rock Emmett
Kelly (compositor, guitarrista y vocalista en The Cairo
Gang, y colaborador de Will Oldham, Ty Segall, Azita y
muchos más), Stephen Malkmus (compositor, guitarrista
y vocalista con Pavement, The Jicks, Silver Jews, Straw
Dogs y como solista), Matt Sweeney (compositor,
guitarrista y vocalista con Chavez, Superwolf,
Superwolves, y colaborador de artistas como Guided by
Voices y Cat Power hasta Johnny Cash y Neil Diamond) y
Jim White (baterista y compositor con Dirty Three,
Xylouris White, homónimo, y colaborador de PJ Harvey,
Smog y Venom P. Stinger). Su álbum debut es un bombardeo de canciones de psicodelia pop
repleto de solos de guitarra difusos y armonías vocales sublimes.
